We picked up our rental car and drove north west to the city of Dachau and the infamous (and first) concentration camp. The famous gate (a reproduction, after the original was stolen and returned a few years later) was the only entrance to the camp.

The crematorium was used to burn the dead, but it was described that the installed gas chamber in the middle of this building was never used.

This sign sits above the gas chamber door.

This sign was uncovered after many years of paint and was almost sickening to see.

After we took a slow and quiet walk all the way back to the entrance, we decided to have some lunch before heading to the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleissheim aviation museum. This museum was about 15 minutes away from Dachau and is part of the Deutsches Museums which are mostly within the city of Munich). I toured the museum's many interesting aircraft while Wendy went to the gift shop and ate dessert (a Magnum double cherry ice cream bar).
